WHOIS web lookup
The WHOIS database is a search service open to everyone that covers all domain names registered in the .lu zone.
WHOIS is a service to look up domain name registration data for a given zone. It includes essential information for contacting the owner of a name in case of technical or other problems.
In order to ensure quality of service, access is subject to technical limitations, particularly on the number of queries per IP address and acceptance of the 'WHOIS Terms and Conditions'.

Looking up information about a domain name
Why run a WHOIS search?
WHOIS is a service to look up domain name registration data for a given zone. It includes essential information for contacting the owner of a name in case of technical or other problems.
To check whether a domain name is available to be registered.
To get information about the domain name's owner, contacts, managing registrar, or server names.
To send a message to a domain name's administrative and/or technical contact.
How can I obtain identification data?
In order to comply with the requirements of national data protection legislation, and in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), only limited data is available via the WHOIS lookup service.
- If the owner is a (private) natural person, their identification data is hidden, except for its country of residence.
- Technical and administrative contact data is masked by default, and as such this information is not available.
To get this data, a written query with a reason given must be sent to the .lu registry via the dedicated 'WHOIS data disclosure request' form. The request's legitimacy will then be evaluated by the registry, and any request deemed excessive or unfounded will be rejected.
